EXO: Winds of Terra
Story:
Kai and Nowaii, the two main characters, are struggling with taking care of their sick mother. Understanding the fatal state that their mother is in but not willing to accept it, Kai resolves to take the trial of Nomads – a trial known for its dangerous nature but, if passed, gives the passer the honor of being a Nomad: explorers of the EXO. Kai hopes that with this, he will be able to have the resources to help his mother. Nowaii, his older brother, more understanding of the prospect of their mother’s passing, still resolves to join his younger brother in the hopes of saving their mom. With this, they leave their home of Nadus and begin their journey across the desert to the trial grounds of the Nomads.

Determined and idealistic, Kai is the protagonist of the EXO story. Kai lives in the nation known as Verrenia in the district of Nadus; a district known for its copper mines. As a Solani, a faction of people that are persecuted for their impure blood, Kai was branded and forced to work in the Nadusian mines for little compensation. When his mother fell sick, unable to afford Central Verrenian medicine, Kai began fighting in the underground circuit of Tahtalar hoping that his mine work and underground profit were enough to afford medicine. However, despite his work, he could not find an affordable medicine that would heal his sick mother. This drove him to pledge to the NOMAD order and cross the desert in hopes of finding the resources that will allow him to save his mother. Despite his empathetic nature, his sheer determination to achieve his goal often overcomes his compassion.
NOWAII

Restless and Pragmatic, Nowaii is the elder brother of Kai and deuteragonist of the story. While being Solani like his brother, Nowaii’s appearance is dissimilar to others of his kind resembling the hated people of the lost kingdom; for this, he is referred to as a “Lilik”. In spite of this, Nowaii still found peace in his life in Nadus. However, as the older brother, he felt responsible for his family and thus, pledged with his little brother. He does not know if he did this out of love for their sick mother or out of guilt of not having tried.
YASHA

On their journey, the two brothers, Kai and Nowaii, come across a boy named Yasha. Mature in nature with a keen eye for his surroundings, Yasha is another Solanan itinerant (nomad recruit) on a journey towards the Nomad grounds. He is the first inheritor that the two brothers meet; people bestowed the grace of one of the 4 flames making them capable of impossible feats. As both a Solani and an inheritor, he was forced to take the Nomad trial or take his chances in the unexplored southern reaches of Ereban; for reasons of his own, he chose the former. Beneath his serious bluster, Yasha often displays a childish easy going persona and a strong sense of compassion; a desire to help those around him even in times where it may harm him. Despite the strange circumstances of their meeting, Yasha forms a close bond with the two brothers, forged from both respect and a desire for companionship, as they traverse the desert, each with a goal of their own.
AIZIK

Lazy, kind, and carefree, Aizik is the big brother figure of Kai and Nowaii. His calm demeanor and modest look reflect his easy going nature. Aizik will avoid doing any work and prefers to make Kai and Nowaii do his work for him but when push comes to shove, Aizik is willing to do everything he can for the two brothers. Despite knowing Aizik for almost 10 years, the brothers know only a little about his past, before he mysteriously showed up at Nadus.
